So I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want

Hematology came by this weekend and said everything looked stable with Charli. Her platelets have stayed around the same (in thousands) they were 67,61,66,72 this week. They said even though that's a low count it may just be what she is going to be and that plenty of people walk around with low platelets. IF we go home this week we will have to follow up with the pediatrician in two weeks for lab work and if everything is ok then follow up at four weeks with hematology.  They also said we may never have a reason why they were low. I think it's called idiopathetic thrombocytopenia and it just means low platelets of unknown origin. She will probably have to keep seeing hematologists throughout her life. Also they said if for any reason the platelets drop or bottom out they will have to do a bone marrow biopsy to further investigate. Obviously they don't want to have to do that since she is staying pretty stable since its such an awful procedure.

I had said before that neurology had signed us off and said they will follow closely outpatient. Well apparently (as I'm learning neurosurgeons do) they changed their mind. I have also learned that they are on their own schedule and dont feel the need to come by and talk about what's going on. I guess they make the decisions then inform you about it later. The plan as I understand it is as follows:
They want the weekly head ultrasound on Monday. They will look at it, get the report and see if there has been any change. They are watching her weight over the weekend to see how much she is gaining. After all this information is collected they will (hopefully) come by and let us know what's going on.
It seems that they now will be deciding if we are staying or going. I haven't seen or talked to a neurosurgeon for two weeks so I had no idea they were even still planning on doing the shunt. From what the neonatologist has told me if neuro says we have to stay then they will be doing the shunt this week. If they say we can go then she will have to come for weekly ultrasounds and they will decide when she will have it later on as they see the need, if it grows.

So I said all that to say this, by Tuesday we should either know we are going home and preparing for that or know we will be here at least two or three more weeks because she will be having the shunt.
I have been praying so hard everytime I get a moment of quiet that when they do the ultrasound the this cyst will be smaller. I feel like that's the only way she will get to go home next week. They say it's impossible to get smaller but I know all things are possible with God. So if you all don't mind when you get a chance just pray her cyst will decrease in size. We really really want to come home.
