Sometimes you make a little progress then you fall back behind. Charli has done great with her feeds the past two days. Unfortunately the CRP lab that is the marker for inflammation has gone back up. All of her other lab work is still fine, but since this is the one that could mean early NEC they have stopped her feeding again. Tentatively they should start back Monday or Tuesday as long as this result goes back down to less than 5. She was at 17 yesterday and went back up to 24 today, so I'm not holding my breath on Monday since she does have a ways to go. I prayed a lot about starting her back on her feeds. Even though that's what I wanted as soon as possible, if there was some reason she shouldn't. I prayed that God would give us a sign or put an obstacle in her way. I guess we got our sign! She was only getting 5cc so not enough to cause any damage if there was an infection, so all they have to do is keep her NPO until the lab drops.
Her platelets are also low again, down to 56,000. The good news is that these should be her own platelets and not the donor she received. They will be watching these daily just like the CRP. That's about all I have to report today. I'll keep you all updated on the lab work as we find out. Here's to hoping it drops way down by the morning!
In other news Charli now ways 4 lbs 2.3 oz, which I think is an all time high! And my grandmother got to come visit her for the first time today!
